On His Marks

Poised between stillness and action, a cougar surveys the world below. One paw hovers above the rock, his gaze fixed on something beyond our view. Ready, but in no hurry.
On His Marks captures that extraordinary moment of anticipation, when instinct takes over and every movement is measured.
Created in expressive charcoal, this piece is part of a developing series of looser wildlife studies, exploring the freedom of spontaneous mark-making and the beauty of leaving something unfinished. Detail gives way to energy and suggestion, inviting the viewer's imagination to complete the picture.
A moment of quiet intensity, captured just before the next move.
